         Pastor G.W. Hall graduated with a B.A. in History from the University of Missouri in 1980 (St. Louis, Missouri).  During the next nine years, Pastor Hall traveled extensively as full-time Evangelist, served as an Assistant Pastor, Youth Pastor, Christian School Administrator, and guest professor/missionary to the Philippines for a semester (4 months).

 

        In October of 1989, G.W. Hall assumed the pulpit of Christian Lighthouse.  Under his leadership, the church acquired their first ownership of a church building and other properties. Subsequently, the church has enjoyed constant growth and is proud of the newly finished worship center.

 

         Currently, Pastor G.W. Hall is an active advocate in local community development and regional civic affairs. In addition to being a graduate and member of Leadership Macomb (2005), he serves on the Macomb County Focus Commission and Selfridge Base Community Council. He has prayed and spoken at many Judicial Investitures for the Circuit Court of Macomb County. Pastor Hall was also elected mulitple terms as a Michigan Representative on a National Home Missions Board and has served as a Presbyter on Michigan Christian Fellowship Boards.    

 

         He loves communicating the Christian message, meeting people, conversations at coffee shops, and playing golf.
He and his wife Kimmela have been married over 25 years. They have two children, Aaron and Gera.

J.L. Hall - Honorary Senior Minister

 

In Memoriam

Throughout his tenure in ministry, J.L. Hall has fulfilled roles such as: Pastor, church executive, theological scholar, historian, and editor. Born in James, TX, Hall was converted to Christ in 1953 before spending two years in the U.S. Army. He received his ministerial license in 1955 and ordination in 1964. He served pastorates in Ardmore, OK, and Wichita, KS.

 

While in Wichita he worked as a Secretary/Treasurer of a Kansas Christian District before his election as a District Superintendent, an office he held from 1971 to 1976. During this time he also earned a B.A. at Friends University in Wichita (1961) and an M.A. in English at Emporia State University (1974). 

 

With his training in journalism, a large Christian fellowship's national leadership invited Hall in 1976 to become editor of Word Aflame Publications, located at their headquarters in Hazelwood, MO. In 1982 he became Editor-in-Chief of all publications, a responsibility that includes oversight of the major magazines. In 1980 he organized and began supervision of a Historical Center. Since 1986 he has planned and promoted the biennial symposiums and has served as a member theological societies. Hall published numerous articles and scholarly books. He retired from the World Evangelism Center in 2005 after 30 years of service.

 

 

For the last few years, Reverend J.L. Hall lived in an assisted living home in Scottsdale, AZ. On Oct. 28th, 2011, he lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease. J.L. Hall is survived by his wife, Marjorie, and their three children, Gerald, Ron, and Diana.  


John Yates - Senior Pastoral Assistant

Revered Yates brings an incredible list of personal experiences to the CLC ministerial staff and is an Ordained licensed minister.

 

John Yates is a Decorated Infantry Fighting Soldier who served in Vietnam along with many Tours-of-Duty. While stationed in Germany he and his wife, Lelia, served as Pastor of a military church for 2 years. John and Lelia have celebrated 36 years of marriage and have two daughters and four grandchildren. In November of 2008, John Yates was awarded the Purple Heart for his military service. 


Mark Curtiss - Adult Education Administrator

Raised in Sterling Heights, Michigan, Mark was a football player and outstanding wrestler at Henry Ford II High School.

 

Currently a Senior Designer for the Surface Product Engineering group within General Motors. As a CAD designer, he works with the GM Design Studios personnel on future GM products, 2 to 4 years before the general public sees the production models in the show room. 

         

            Mark genuinely enjoys being one of the teachers for the Christian Living (Adult Class) on Sundays from 10:00am-10:45am. Mark has taught for many years and continues to provide essential Christian principals. 

           He and his lovely wife, Anne, have been married for 29 years. A few of his hobbies include nature-photography and paintball.


David Rentzel - Pastoral Assistant

        David is active in many ministries at Christian Lighthouse Church. He is one of the teachers of the Christian Living (Adult Class) on Sundays from 10:00am-10:45am. For the last decade, David has been involved in youth ministry. In Ohio, he served youth director to a large christian center for 4 years.  At CLC, his commitment is far beyond youth ministry. 

           

          Currently, David works for Chase Bank as a Branch Manager. He and his wife, Yvonne, have been married for 13 years. They have three adorable children, Zachary, Rachel, and Brock.    

 


Aaron J. Hall - RSM Director

              Aaron J. Hall actively coordinates Re@ch Student Ministries (RSM) and the Music ministry of CLC. Please check out the calendar for this month's youth events. The RSM Student Sessions have covered a variety of Christian Essentials in series formats. Some series topics include: "Be A Pro: Study Through PROverbs" & "More Than Beans: Jesus Today. Every April, he organizes an impacting youth event and concert called, RE@CH.  The concert has hosted a number of successful musicians/bands, including the newly signed band, Royal Tailor. RE@CH has raised funds for many charities by way of supporting Christian Missionaries in Foreign Countries and Local Cancer Research Foundations. Aaron also helps with the Media Arts of CLC, such as producing short films for the church. A few of Aaron's hobbies are playing golf, reading modernist literature, and jazz music. Recently, he graduated with honors from Oakland University earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. In Spring 2011, Aaron accepted the prestigious Dean's Scholarship to attend the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Kimmela Hall - Music Coordinator

          Kimmela Hall is a gifted singer and music director. Beginning as a young child in her home state of Louisiana, she established her passion for singing. After Kimmela and G.W. Hall were married, she traveled with him, evangelizing all over the United States. Subsequent to assuming Christian Lighthouse Church in 1989, she became the church choir director.

 

          Currently, Kimmela and the music staff work together leading the choir and the praise team of CLC. Additionally, she serves as the church secretary, and helps lead the Ladies of the Light ministry.

 

         She has a zeal for great gospel music, flower gardening, specialty coffees and teas. She loves to travel with the church youth group to events such as conventions, camps, and rallies. Also, Kimmela is the proud mother of her two children, Aaron and Gera.


Elizabeth Malaga - Choir Music & Vocal Instructor

Elizabeth Malaga has been apart of Christian Lighthouse Church for many years. She is very involved in the music ministry of CLC. Elizabeth teaches vocal parts to the choir and plays the piano for the choir. Elizabeth is a graduate of Wayne State University with degree in Music.
